WIG Officer Training Center
The International WIG Officer Training Center (IWTC), in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Institute, is offering a WIG Officer training course that is fully compliant with IMO guidelines (MSC.1/Circ.1592) and accredited by the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries(MOF). The center offers tailor-made and country-specific courses to eligible overseas candidates to prepare them for WIG craft operations in their respective jurisdictions.
Upon completion of the course, the certificate of attainment will be issued.
the holder of the certificate should be able to apply for
a WIG officer license in the jurisdiction where they wish to work as a WIG officer.
As more WIG crafts are operated by the private and government sectors,
more captains and officer positions are expected to open up
and the level of salary will be higher than that of a captain
or skipper of a similar class of vessel.
Fully accredited practical course by
the Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology(KIMFT)
In March 2017, an agreement was signed between the KIMFT and Aron,
under which the International WIG Officers Training Center,
Aron’s in-house training arm, will offer fully government-accredited
practical training courses for those who wish to become a WIG officer.
